How to Care for Yak Wool
Yak wool is prized for its softness, warmth and lightweight feel. Its fine natural fibres require gentler care than many everyday fabrics, so always begin by checking the care label on your individual garment.
Yak wool knitwear does not need to be washed after every wear. Allowing your jumper to air naturally between wears can help keep it fresh and reduce unnecessary washing, which in turn helps preserve the fibres.
How to Wash Yak Wool
We recommend hand washing yak wool to help protect its soft, fine fibres and maintain the shape of your knitwear.
Use cool or lukewarm water with a small amount of detergent suitable for wool and delicate fibres. Gently immerse the garment and allow it to soak, avoiding rubbing, scrubbing or stretching the fabric.
Rinse carefully in clean water at a similar temperature, as sudden changes in water temperature can cause wool fibres to shrink or felt.

Can You Machine Wash Yak Wool?
We recommend hand washing our yak wool knitwear rather than using a washing machine. Even gentle machine cycles can create additional movement and friction, which may affect the delicate natural fibres.
For the best results, wash your yak wool gently by hand and follow the instructions on the garment care label.
How to Dry Yak Wool
After hand washing, never wring or twist yak wool, as this can stretch the fibres and cause the garment to lose its shape.
Instead, gently press out excess water. Lay the garment flat on a clean towel, roll it carefully and press lightly to absorb additional moisture.
Reshape your knitwear while damp and leave it to dry naturally on a flat surface, away from direct sunlight and sources of heat. Avoid hanging yak wool while wet, as the weight of the water can cause it to stretch.
How to Store Yak Wool Knitwear
Make sure your yak wool knitwear is clean and completely dry before storing it for an extended period.
Fold knitwear rather than hanging it, as prolonged hanging can cause the shoulders and body to stretch. Store it somewhere cool and dry, away from direct sunlight.
For longer term storage, a breathable garment bag or suitable storage container can help protect your knitwear from dust and moths.
Caring for Yak Wool Between Wears
Giving your yak wool knitwear a little attention between wears can help keep it looking its best. Allow garments to rest and air naturally before folding them away.
Some light pilling can occur naturally with fine wool fibres, particularly in areas exposed to friction. This can be carefully removed with a suitable knitwear comb, taking care not to pull or damage the yarn.
