The Journey of a Joseph Turner Shirt

Joseph Turner shirts are known for their durability and comfort. They are designed to have a distinctly generous cut, a split back yoke, a long tail and double stitched seams. Our formal shirts come with the option of double cuffs for cufflinks or button cuffs. Removable collar stays are added to give structure and shape to the collar and the buttons are lock stitched to ensure they stay strong. All of these components together help to create, what we think is the perfect shirt.

Whether it is our popular Tattersall checks or our classic formal shirts, we ripe cotton in field ready for harvestensure only the best cotton is used. The cotton we use is sourced from across the globe and is taken from the country that had the best crop that season. One year it could be the USA, the next it could be Egypt! The crop is then harvested and eventually spun into the desired yarn ready to be woven into the fabric that will be used to construct the perfect formal shirt.

The manufacturing process of a Joseph Turner shirt begins with a team of highly skilled pattern cutters. A template is created for the shirt, which is based on our exacting requirements and specification. This is then tested, reviewed and revised until the final fit is approved by the team, here, at Joseph Turner.

Once this template has been approved the sewing can begin. The shirt is constructed by expert machinists who use advanced hand-operated machinery and technology, coupled with age-old skills and experience in order to produce the sharpest of garments. The finished shirt is then carefully pressed to perfection, removable collar stays are added and it is then packaged ready to be shipped to the customer to be enjoyed.

The collars on our shirts are cut on a curve to ensure that they sit close to the neck, and are neat under a jacket.
